Waipahu, hi 
The 2025 Outrigger soccer kickoff went under way at the Waipio peninsula soccer stadium. the host of the tournament, the university of Hawai'i rainbow wahine, would look to gain new knowledge of the new season as they prepare for the upcoming conference matches. some of those schools participating in this year tournament, the university of central Arkansas, Sacramento state, and Oregon. The preseason opener at home gave all four teams a chance to see their strengths and weaknesses before heading into their conference matches. 

day 1:
The sac state takeover: 
the university of Sacramento State Hornets and Oregon Ducks kicked things off for game 1 of the two day tournament. the teams made their way to the islands in hopes of starting off the new season on the right foot. We would see Hawai'i natives on both teams come home in new threads, as many local players got the chance to play in front of their home crowd. 
Sacramento state Dalen Lau, Jaety mandaquit, and candace ching returned home to the islands as they would see many familiar faces and play back in their home crowd. 
Oregon duck Kailee Chavez and Carly Cormack also made their way back home to the 808. a very special preseason game for both sac-state and Oregon hometown natives. 
the match would be a back and forth battle throughout the first half. things changed for the hornets, as the ball found the ball in the back of the net in the 64th minute. Sophomore Midfielder, Jaety Mandaquit, made a clean shot off a corner kick and would be the only score of the match. The Hilo native scored her first goal of the season and helped secure their first dub of the tournament. to top it all of for jaety, she would score her first goal of the season in front of her home crowd. The Hornets take down the Ducks and will play Central Arkansas on Sunday. The Ducks will face off against the host, Hawaii Rainbow Wahine.

Home Opener Dub:
The Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine soccer team returns home after a two game away game at Long Beach and Pepperdine. Starting the season with a draw and loss, the bows looked to change their results on home soil. The Outrigger Soccer Kickoff Tournament welcomed ASUN conference, Central Arkansas Bears, to kick off the home opener against the Bows. 
The Bows started off strong attacking from the jump. Looking to be the first to strike, the Rainbow Wahine would find the ball in the back of the net in the 34th minute led by Senior Midfielder, Caroline Carter. The Rainbow Wahine Soccer team gets their first win of the new season and look to keep the momentum going as they will host BIG10 conference, Oregon Ducks, on Sunday afternoon. 

Final Score: Hawai’i 1 - Central Arkansas 0 

DAY 2:
Bear down Hornets: 

The 2025 Outrigger Soccer Kickoff in Waipio wrapped up Day 2 of the tournament. The Central Arkansas Bears and the Sacramento State Hornets shared the field one last time before heading home to start the regular season. 
It would be a scoreless first half with solid defense from both sides. Things would chance as the 52nd minute of the match, Junior Forward, Trace Pavatt, would score a nice goal off a set piece. The Hornets would look to tie things up off of their own shots on target, but fell short in regulation. 
Both teams finished the tournament with a win and a loss and will now start their conference season. 

Final Score: Central Arkansas 1 - Sacramento State 0 

Sco Ducks: 

The final doubleheader of the night of the 2025 Outrigger Soccer Kickoff, headlined the visiting Oregon Ducks and the home team of the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors. After Day 1 performance, Oregon would look to bounce back after a 1-0 defeat from Sacramento State, and Hawai’i would look to finish on top with a 2-0 win after defeating Central Arkansas Thursday night. 
The Ducks started off attacking from the jump. Oregon Senior Forward, Sydney Chura, striked first off a defensive mistake by the Bows and scored in the 5th minute. Later in the first half, Hawai’i native and former HHSAA Girls Soccer State Champ and Punahou alumni, Oregon Sophomore Midfielder, Carly Cormack, found the back of the net in the 27th minute after an assist from Chura. The local champ, returned home and made a big play in front of her home crowd. Towards the end, Oregon would strike again in the 88th minute and finish the tournament with a win. 
with the tournament wrapped up, all four teams finished a 1 win and 1 loss. They are all set to start their conference matches soon. 

Final Score: Oregon 3 - Hawai’i 0
